Who knew writing by hand would prove so productive, especially considering that I haven't done so in years and hated doing it back then too?  Weird, huh?  

This is exactly what happened yesterday, however.  I did what I haven't managed to do in front of a computer screen for nearly two weeks -- sit down and write a 2000 word opening chapter.  This is especially striking, because I'm a perfectionist-extraordinaire who loves being able to easily edit while writing.

But somehow, putting good old-fashioned pen to paper was the only thing to get me out of my rut.  Perhaps this result is telling in more than one way.

Perhaps it's best sometimes for us to be able to silence our inner editor/censor and just *write*!  I don't know yet.  I know I prefer being able to sit in front of a computer screen.

But I'm also glad to have the ability to turn the damn thing off when all it's doing is distracting me.

Am I just one of a dying breed, or are there others out there like me?  It's kinda hard to tell.
